I'm often skeptical about melodic metal from my home country, because so much of it is crap. But here we have a band that's done a pretty remarkable thing - they took all the expected elements from bands like Nevermore and Iced Earth, complete with rampant heaviness and a touch of progginess, and they produced something actually worth hearing. Rather than the often dull repetitiveness of Nevermore, we get their heaviness and dynamic sound, and rather than the stodgy compositions of Iced Earth, Shadowdance play songs that burst out with energy to spare and roll along without stopping dead.

So we have an album of heavy, propulsive US Metal that isn't taking any chances, and a lot of it sounds alike, but it's crunchy and enjoyable, and you won't get bored with it. Shadowdance definitely have real potential here, with a sophomore album this enjoyable, and they will bear watching.
