Californians Xpulsion mix an early Bay-area Thrash sound, a la Exodus, with some Cronos style semi-harsh vocals on their 2012 EP War Is Imminent. The riffing and solos are decent and Xpulsion play with a lot of energy. I wish they'd limited the intro sections on songs like "Welcome to Yourself," which takes nearly three tedious minutes of lonely drums and slow, rolling guitars before getting underway properly. War Is Imminent contains some serviceable Thrash Metal but I can't think of a reason not to just go to the source and grab Bonded by Blood or Pleasures of the Flesh instead. |
