I vaguely knew of this band as one that Tann of the mighty Ironsword used to play bass in. I knew they were a long-running act in Portugal and had been around forever, but nobody told me they were fucking awesome. This is the eighth full-length album for Decayed, who have been around for 22 years, producing 9 albums, 7 demos, 10 EPs, 9 Splits, 3 Live Albums and 9 Compilations.

This is Black Metal, but not the kind of thing we mean today, as Decayed are solidly embedded in the first wave, harking back to Hellhammer, Sodom, and Venom with pugilistic riffs, blistering speed, and an atmosphere of darkness, evil, and crushing heaviness. There is nothing cleaned-up, symphonic, or 'atmospheric' about this, this is BM done the Old Way - nun-raping, goat-sacrificing, virgin-slaughtering fun that rips and hammers and generally behaves like any genre invented since 1985 is for fucking posers. I seriously had no idea this band was so cool, and now I need to start hunting down all their shit.
