This is an interesting album from this Eastern European band. Branded as Melodic Death Metal, this outfit is not really doing anything like what you’d expect to hear from that description. This is definably extreme metal, but much more sprawling and progressive than melodeath normally gets. This actually reminds me more than a bit of Enslaved’s more recent works. Some of the riffing is good, and the intricate songwriting sometimes manages to be gripping, but like all proggy bands, this outfit cannot resist throwing in complexity just for the sake of it, too often strangling their momentum for no good reason and chopping the songs up into parts that don’t hold together as well as they could. Still, a band with a distinct sound and undeniable talent.
