Seriously heavy, slow Doom Metal is what Sweden's Pyramido has in store for you on their second album, Salt. Brutally down-tuned guitars create leaden blankets of sound while blackened vocals screech, rasp and growl over the top. The songs are well written as evidenced by the fact that they don't blend together and neither the guitars nor the vocals overshadow one another. Pyramido use occasional sound effects to keep things interesting, but do not rely on them to establish mood; that is left solely to the music. And a dark, dismal mood it is, indeed, but one that sucks you in and wrings you out.

I'm not the biggest Doom Metal fan, but Salt is well done and an example of how captivating this style can be. Recommended.
