Quite a change from "Alive in 85", Live '90 features "The Demolition Man" on bass/vocals in replacement of Cronos, and the band is also a 4-piece, with Al Barnes on rythm guitar - this provides for a heavier sound overall, but sounds a bit weird on the stuff recorded with 3 members. The Demolition Man is quite the frontman, very good stage presence and he headbangs like a maniac. He has a style so different from Cronos' that I won't even bother comparing them. There isn't a lot of interaction with the crowd - at least compared with the '85 video, and it's much less theatrical, but the fans are obviously 110% into it anyway (lots of stage-diving and crowd-surfing.)

I'm not too crazy at the vocal delivery of such classics as "Welcome To Hell", where the new frontman thought it was a good idea to add his own touch to the chorus, for example. The sound is OK but somewhat overloaded at times, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since my VCR is a cheap piece of crap, and may not deliver the stereo experience as it was intended to be. The second to last song is named "Hell Bent for Metal", but it's essentially a cover of Judas Priest's "Hell Bent for Leather". To tell you the truth, with the British accent, I actually had to check the track listing to make sure they were saying "metal" and not "leather". :)

This is a very good live show, although I'd recommend the '85 show if you have to get only one. One way or the other, I think they're both out of print, so happy hunting!
