Second full-length effort from this Portuguese band, who are trying to work a level of epic songwriting into their orthodox Black Metal. They do succeed in making this bigger in scope than standard BM, but they don't succeed in making it really compelling. This album is forty minutes of decent riffs played at a mostly sentinel speed, kind of marching along with the occasional blast here and there. The guitar sound is raw but kind of weak, the drums are muted, and the bass is inaudible. Vocals are a very standard rasp that creates no drama or emotion, and really that's true about the album as a whole. This is an inoffensive album that sounds good enough while it's on, but has no real presence and no reason for its existence. Bland. |
