This is Moonspell desperately trying to regain some cred by re-recording their old stuff, some from the era before they were even Moonspell. This is much more in a Black Metal style, if a very Gothy, keyboard-infested variety. Even with these early songs you can hear their impatience with BM and a desire to go more a Cradle Of Filthy direction. That said, this is nowhere near as gay as anything associated with Dani. This is not a bad disc, and parts of it are quite good, but overall it's pretty irrelevant, and I don't see much purpose in it: fans of 'new' Moonspell won't like it, and Black Metal fans are unlikely to be impressed. |
