From the Black Metal hotbed that is France comes this Black/Death hybrid that should get on the map with this new release. Old school violent Blackened Death is the name of the game - Think of a little of Darkthrone, Tsjuder and some Morbid Angel all mixed together. The music is fast-paced overall with some slower moments that generally don't last too long. Fast yes, but not the hyper fast variety that some call "norsecore". Even the vocals borrow from both death and black, mostly BM-style "low" screeches and occasionally some DM growls. There seems to be some attempts at introducing an atmosphere in some songs, but I found that fell flat most of the time even though everything is well-played and just where it's supposed to be. Not much to complain about here. If you want a good dose of satanic Black/Death, this one is definitely worth a listen. |
