We are, defenders of the faith! After the huge success of Screaming for Vengeance, the band will unleash another classic in metal history in 1984, Defenders of the Faith! This album was also a huge success. It starts at full speed with Freewheel Burning, an excellent song with a bridge sung at high speed by Halford and a memorable guitar harmony in Downing and Tipton's solo. In fact, one of the great strength of this album is the excellent guitar harmonies and solos following each other by Downing and Tipton, a trademark of the band! The classics are many on this album, Jawbreaker, Rock Hard Ride Free (with superb solos), The Sentinel (what a duel of solos by Tipton and Downing), their great hit Love Bites, the short and very heavy Eat Me Alive, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll and the beautiful Night Comes Down brilliantly sung by Halford. The remastered album contains two bonus tracks, Turn On Your Light, an unplugged track recorded by Halford and Tipton years ago and left on the backburner up until now, and Heavy Duty/Defenders of the Faith (live version). This is a must-have album that I still listen to today. This is 100% pure heavy metal, no gimmicks or gadgets. With recent albums like Jugulator and Demolition, I'm gonna remain a nostalgic! :) We are, defenders of the faith!
