Brainstorm are a power metal quintet firmly rooted in stomping heavy metal and a tinge of thrash. Once again, it had to be the Germans! There is just something about Germany that produces such great bands.

"Ambiguity" starts off with an absolute killer track – "Crush Depth" with both choppy as well as crunchy riffs. It sets a great atmosphere for what is to come. The next number speeds up the pace with more thrashy riffs and there is even a bit of Paragon in the chorus part. "Beyond The Walls" is something of a crushing ballad that absolutely slays. Then we get some forgettable tracks which aren't necessarily bad, but don't really stand out, until we hit the mammoth "Maharaja Palace"! Holy shit! This song is all about stomping heavy metal that WILL get your fists in the air. It features some East Indian melodies and a very steady and crunchy rhythm going on throughout. It is impossible not to like this track.

Overall, this is a very solid album by these Germans and although their latest outing "Soul Temptation" had some killer cuts like "Shiva's Tears", this album fully unleashes the storm that this band is all about. There is a lot of Tad Morose type of power metal on here, as well some of the more generic power metal acts, but this is still mostly about the aggressive and stomping type of metal. Fans of Tad Morose or even Angel Dust (without as much keyboards) or Enola Gay will find something to like in this album.
