Game Over are back with more in-your-face thrash that doesn't colour much outside the lines, but is very listenable. This starts off very well with a cool, dark intro followed by a fast-paced opener that hints at good things. There are some clean thrashy vocals, but also some more melodic—but still thrashy—lines here and there. Some short bits remind me a bit of '80s Megadeth, with a dark, kind of apocalyptic vibe that stands out. "Crimson Waves" is more of a ballad which, while pretty decent, kind of clashes with the rest of the album. I'm reminded a bit of "black album"-era Metallica with this one. There's a lot of thrash being released these days and Face the End is kind of average in that crowded pace. You can do worse as a pick, but you can certainly do better. Nothing great, but nothing bad either. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
