Unfortunately, this is the swan song for Necrodeath as they've announced this would be their last album. There's a lot of death/thrash on offer these days and, even though most bands are at least decent, it gets old. But on Arimortis, Necrodeath show us that there's more to it: experience. The band has been at it for a long time and this last album of theirs shows that they haven't lost their touch, far from that. Aggressive, as one would expect, but also filled with dark, entrancing melodies that tiptoe between beautiful and nightmarish. That's what Necrodeath have in store for us. It's not raw but not over-polished either, just a band that's fine-tuned and know what they're doing, plain and simple. I found the album to be very memorable and I've kept going back to it these past few weeks. Their expert use of dark melodies is just infectious and gets you hooked from the get-go. Can't say I'm crazy about the "artwork" nor the coughing at the end (is that really the note they wanted to leave with?), but that's rather inconsequential considering the quality of expertly crafted death/thrash that is Arimortis. Sucks that this is their last album, but I'd rather have a band leave on a high note than losing their edge and releasing subpar music. Like pretty much all of the band's other albums, this is a must-have.
