Siege Perilous is a new band from Denver, Colorado, and Creation's Call is their second self-released EP. Epic, fantasy-based metal is what they play with some crunchy power metal elements in the mix. The singer's gruff baritone reminds me of Sabaton's Joachim Broden and so a comparison with the Swedish group isn't far from the mark, though I can also hear bands like Visigoth and even a little Manowar in Siege Perilous' approach. The songwriting is pretty accomplished for a newer band and there are lots of hooks to go around. I wouldn't call Creation's Call amazing, but this band has a lot of promise and looks like a potential player in the epic metal scene in the future. |
