Third album for this Black Metal band who I have not encountered before. Sometimes it is hard to really get a handle on what an album is reminding me of, but this time it is pretty much: Dissection. This band is not doing a clone band thing, but the inspiration is pretty hard to miss. The rolling, melodic riffs are signature, the vocals are the same kind of dry rasp, and even the production and overall sound are definitely trying to get pretty close to the sound of The Somberlain. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, as Dissection are long gone, and I wish more bands sounded like that. That said, the songwriting here is good but not amazing, so this is fun but it's not a game changer. |
