High Warden is a relatively new band from Germany that lays down some tasty epic doom metal on their debut album, Astral Iron. Guitars thick with viscous reverb and a booming bottom end will vibrate the pictures off your walls as you bask in the creepy, cobwebby atmosphere that oozes from Astral Iron. I couldn't help but think of bands like Solstice when the bludgeoning riffs of "We Shall Burn at Foreign Shores (the Choice of Achilles)" and the title track came at me full force, or Into Glory Ride-era Manowar, specifically the track "Hatred," when the deep, sincere menace of "The Morn is Wiser than the Eve" rolled over me. Astral Iron is a crushing volley of epic doom from High Warden. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
