Some refreshing black metal here. I'm reminded a bit of Greece's Nocternity circa En Oria. Lots of melody and no shortage of speed, but not in the blasting style and they're not trying to break any speed record on this album. Where Luring shine is in their use of atmosphere. It's melancholic, dark and haunting and it just sucks you in. There's kind of a suspenseful horror movie-like thing going on here, or at least that's what it feels like (I don't have the lyrics). The kind of stuff you don't want to hear if you're stuck alone in the middle of a dark forest. The vocals are just as haunting as the atmosphere, totally otherworldly and would send the uninitiated running for their life. There are some instrumental passages that are borderline bone-chilling, kind of like the cherry on top of this addictive album that comes to life when you put it on and kick back in a dark room. |
