Förgjord are a Finnish band who have been knocking around for almost 30 years, though they have only produced 7 albums in that time. This is not one, this is a rerelease of their demo from 2002, put together by their new label Werewolf Records, who are doing a pretty good job of getting the band some attention. As a demo, you expect this to be primitive and raw, and it is, but in the way I like. The recording is rough, but the guitars have a lot of bite to them, and while the sound is murky it's not impossible to tell what's going on. The songwriting is not much more than a cut above the average, but the extremely underground sound helps give this an occult, dark age vibe that is just fun to hear. This includes the four tracks from the original demo, plus a cut song and two tracks that were recorded about the same time in 2000-2001, and they all have the same kind of raw feel. If you like demo-level Black Metal recordings, then this is pretty good. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
