Last year I enjoyed this band's sophomore epic, and now we have another one, as this is a one-man band who will have a fast output. I always attribute that to a lack of touring, though the guy has like 6 bands he is either largely or solely responsible for, so he is still producing a lot of music. I liked Ardor for Black Mastery really well, and I like this one as well, as it is even more ambitious and unconventional, though it is shorter. Opening with the fifteen-minute "The Insurrectionists" shows this is a project going for an epic feel. The songs here are very much in line with second-wave Black Metal, recalling Emperor or early Satyricon with sprawling arrangements and some moody interludes. The compositions could maybe use some more shape and structure, but they are always interesting, and the gritty, arcane production does a lot to make this sound nicely underground. Check it out.
