This is the twenty-sixth album by solo project Elffor in a career going back to 1998—which is still about an album a year. In fact, Eöl has put out another album already, just about a month ago. This is one of those bands that is like a flood if you get into their music, because there is a huge back catalog to dig on. As always, this is Epic/Atmospheric Black Metal with similarities to other bands in this general area like Druadan Forest or Evilfeast. I always like that Elffor is more about metal than about keys, and this has a very murky, dark atmosphere, with a recording job that crushes all the sounds into a single outpouring of gloomy noise. Some works by this band are much more melodic and stray almost into a dungeon synth, but this one is very subterranean Black Metal first and foremost. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
