Demonolatry, Abhorration's first album, is very much in the same vein as their previous EP After Winter Comes War. Old-school raw death metal that holds no punches, at times chaotic in an all-hell-breaks-loose kind of way, sometimes borderline atmospheric with a creepy demonic atmosphere. I wish they focused more on the latter as it's a more distinctive sound than the former, which is kind of more of the same, considering the number of death metal bands out there doing the old-school stuff. The growled vocals are practically barked, angry and aggressive and often front and centre. The album almost has a blackened aura to it, but they steered clear of the temptation to cross the line. A nice little slab of demonic rampage. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
