Praise the Communion Fire for the Unhallowed Sacrament is the third album from Germany's Blackevil and is once again filled with their melodic brand of black/thrash metal. The guitars supply the "thrash" with their sharp yet full sound and the haunted, rasping vocals supply the "black." As on their last one, 2020's Forever Baptised in Eternal Fire, Blackevil don't spare the speed but do have a good sense of when to slow things down to build tension. Nowhere on the album does this work better than the closer, "Towards the Carpathian Winter Battle" a track with an epic vibe and excellent ebb and flow from ruthless bashing/howling to pensive acoustic passages. Blackevil have once again put their unique stamp on black/thrash and released another album fans of this genre should actively seek out. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
