Second album for this British band, who are maybe not doing anything too original, but they are still making good music. This is relentlessly orthodox second-wave Black Metal, with atonal tremolo riffs and rasping vocals. What saves this is that first, the recording is done well—not too sharp, not too raw—and second the riffs are really good, with quite a lot of tasty melody buried in them that creates a genuine feel and mood. This is not anything you have not heard before, but when it's done this well I don't mind that so much. |
