It's nice to see yet another death metal band that's doing its own thing. Cutting the Throat of God sound pretty brutal from the title, but the music itself is very dark and atmospheric, almost relaxing even, while being firmly rooted in melodic death metal (not the Gotherburg style, but death metal that happens to be melodic). The growls sound like they trail off a bit and have a kind of whispery delivery that is a perfect match for the dark, crushingly agonizing music that's wrapped in a gloomy, sorrowful atmosphere that draws in the listener. Much like some atmospheric black metal, this album won't get you headbanging or throwing yourself into walls, not even breaking out your air instruments for that matter. Just sit back and let yourself be sucked in by the atmosphere. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
