There are dozens of bands under the name Witchcraft, but this is the Finnish black metal one that used to be Black Feast from 2009 to 2012 before becoming Blasphemous Witchcraft in 2013 and shortening it to Witchcraft soon after that. This is one of those bands with oodles of demos and splits and yet don't have a proper full-length to their name, and even this release is a compilation of rehearsal material from 2015 to 2018 with some unreleased demo tracks included. If that paints a picture of a raw, dirty band obsessed with classic acts like Blasphemy and especially Beherit, then you pretty much know what this sounds like: primitive, nasty, and trve as fuck without a gimmick or some such bullshit in sight. I will say that this has that muffled lo-fi quality you get from rehearsal tracks rather than the kind of messy and chaotic sound you'd expect, so anyone who can't stomach that won't find much here, but they might like the bonus demo tracks, "Evoked From Hell" and "Goatphallus Ejaculation," which actually remind me of Beherit back when they released a single demo under the name The Lord Diabolus, and it's every bit as batshit and cool as that sounds. Anyone wanting something more refined or substantive probably stopped reading a few sentences ago, so for everyone else, this is a fun blast of old-school evil noise that won't change your life, but it might shorten it as you bang your head into the wall while invoking Satan and beer when it's on.
