This band out of Sweden presents a mix of several genres on their debut album, which follows a first EP in 2023. Technically melodic black/death metal, there is also a huge doom vibe throughout, the album being quite dark and melancholic. I found the overall atmosphere depressing, though the melodies are kind of syrupy and take away some of the edge. That's actually a bit of a turn-off for me as I found this makes it all sound a little too mellow for its own good - but your mileage may vary as this is about as subjective as it gets. After several listens, I can't say the album ever really did it for me. I never had the urge to turn it off, but it's not something I'd reach out for either. But those looking for something dark and melodic but kind of "inoffensive" may find this more appealing than I did. |
