I hadn't heard Dream Evil in some 20 years, so this is pretty much like listening to a band I've never heard. This is a fun, upbeat, throw your fist in the air kind of album. Basically power metal with some classic heavy metal leanings here and there (think Maiden as well as some more obscure bands of the '80s when it comes to some to the solos). The vocalist delivers the goods with powerful vocals and annoyingly infectious melodies that you just want to sing along to and that will get stuck in your head long after the album is over. Some of this reminds me of Freedom Call, such as "The Tyrant Dies at Dawn," for example, though Dream Evil are quite as "pop" and happy sounding. It's not all about happy, accessible power metal, there's also heavier and crunchier stuff reminiscent of the likes of Primal Fear that packs a lot of punch. Overall, lots of metal goodness here for when you need something uplifting.
