For some reason, with a name like Werewolves I didn't expect this band to sound like this. This is modern blackened death metal that's played pedal to the metal. It's an unrelenting blast fest that'll mess you up if you try to headbang to this or result in some carpal tunnel problem if you try to air-guitar along. The songs are very aggressive, not only because of the fast, precise, razor-sharp musical delivery, but also the vocals are vicious raspy growls that ooze hate and destruction. You'd think with this level of speed and total chaos that the album would be like a barrage of noise, but I've found it to have kind of a thrash-like catchiness to it. What can I say, this is from Australia and I'm sure there's something in the water over there when it comes to playing it extreme and well. I also have some suspicion that this might be used to keep away the deadly animals roaming their country (if it hasn't been tried, they should). Fucking great death metal and I'm looking forward to their next output. |
