This is an album of grim, unfriendly Black Metal with an undersea vibe and a twisting atonality to the riffs that makes it sound both inimical and dense. The compositions have a lot of layering and a lot of parts welded together, so these songs are heavy with melody and depth. Maybe some similarities to Immortal or Blood of Kingu, and one pleasing thing about this is the unity of mood and aesthetic, even for such a new band. There's no fumbling around trying to decide what they are doing, they go right for the throat.
