Greece's Vultur offer us some old-school death metal here, which is not exactly the most original thing these days with so many bands doing it, but they somewhat set themselves apart with a horror-like, kind of spooky atmosphere that gives the overall album a chilling vibe. The growls also come off sounding creepy and nightmarish. Other than that, well, it's old-school death metal, so if you like it "early '90s" and mostly of the various American schools of death metal, then you'll find something to like here. Based on that alone, I'd have rated the album lower, but that atmosphere really adds a lot to the music, and it makes Drowned in Gangrenous Blood an addictive listen. |
