I've been listening to this album quite a bit since I got it not that long ago, and that's not surprising as they're branded as "traditional heavy metal" on the promo sheet; that's what they do, and they do it very well. Some metal bands of the day often picked the darker side of things, but Kerrigan are all about upbeat, speedy heavy metal that sounds positive and is just plain fun to listen to. High-pitched, singalong-inducing vocals are front and centre, very infectious and guaranteed to get a few songs stuck in your head after one listen. The title track is especially catchy (I dare you to get that "Bloodmooo-oooon" out of your head). Their music is mostly influenced by very early '80s heavy metal, including some NWOBHM bands—though this is way more refined—and also German and U.S. heavy metal of the period, so there's a lot to cut your teeth on with this one. More crunchy riffs and twirling solos than you can shake a stick at, and the guitar melodies are just as catchy as the vocals. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my air guitar.
