If the album’s title didn’t trigger "90s Scandinavian black metal" in your mind, it won’t take long after firing up the album. This is cold (uhuh), incisive, fast black metal with piercing shrieky vocals that takes you way back to the mid to late ‘90s, just with more modern production means. There are little hints of Darkthrone, Burzum and Immortal in there. Nothing copycat-ish per se, but I couldn’t help but think of these bands here and there during some songs. It’s not original, but if you can’t get enough of raw, brutally fast black metal, this is a nice little slab full of just that. |
