Ob Nixilis formed in 2020, Anno Fuckery, and play a very melodic and somewhat bleak blend of black and death metal. I can’t say anything really made me stand to attention while listening to this, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing since sometimes that’s what I want (despite the lowish rating, I’ve listened to this album quite a bit when I was in the right mood). The album has an omnipresent dark atmosphere that rarely lets go and it’s both depressing and crushing, so don’t count on this album to lift your spirit on a bad day. Abhorred is well executed, but it’s not exactly exciting. It’s one of those albums that’s just there, and you can easily put it in the background while doing something else and it won’t get in the way. |
