Glacier took the long way around, putting out some demos and an EP in the '80s, then reforming decades later to finally get their debut album released in 2020. This is an EP they put out independently, and while I often don't bother with EPs, I like this band. I thought their album The Passing of Time was pretty good, even if it was a little shallow, but this shows them moving in a more epic direction and I like that. This is still the same kind of Heavy/Trad Metal they have always done, but this time there is a strong influence from bands like Wotan or Battle Ram. The vocals are still just kind of average, but the melodies are better, and especially the second track "The Word and the Will" really gives you something to dig in on. I think this bodes really well for the future of this long-running band. |
