I almost skipped this one (can't listen to them all), but I'm glad I got curious and checked it out. This is very old school heavy metal, and by old school I mean '70s-style (for the most part). It has that early Black Sabbath heaviness mixed with heavy rock and there's also that psychedelic vibe that was prevalent back in those days. At times I'm reminded of Ecstatic Vision, who lean on that side quite a bit in their compositions. This is sometimes doomy in the Sabbath sense, sometimes way more "easy going," really hitting the '70s occult rock vibe there, albeit with a more metallic sound. Trippy stuff, basically. This is a very sober album; nothing flashy, nothing especially original, it feels like they're just chugging along, but the end result is very addictive and, if you like '70s heavy and with a hint of psychedelia, this almost feels like the real deal. Thirty minutes that leave you begging for more. |
