Green King is a Finnish band and Hidden Beyond Time is their debut album. They play a heavy/doom metal, and that combo in today's metal scene always makes me suspect I might be hearing some stoner music, which I have very little time for. There's a touch of that in Green King's music, but not so much as to make Hidden Beyond Time unlistenable. It is actually a generally up-tempo affair with plenty of reverb on the guitars, though nothing you would equate to old Sabbath or Pentagram and songs like "Gates of Annihilation" and "Where Speedian Dwells" move along and are catchy. The vocals are dry and midway between a shout and a scream and sound OK for a while, but it's a limited approach and gets tedious, especially on "Terakiituri," the song with the most stoner riffs and the one I had to skip after the first few listens. I would say that if you like doomy metal that has some eccentricities along the lines of Cirith Ungol or Sword, you might be in the audience Green King is aiming for.
