This is an odd one-man band playing Death Metal about mushroom-based horror—yeah, you heard me right. With such a bizarre focus and album titles that are parodying other Death Metal album titles (the debut was called Scream Bloody Spore), I was not sure what kind of stuff I was going to hear on this. Surprisingly, this is a solid slab of Death Metal, with ripping riffs, a heavy guitar sound, and some feral songwriting that carries the whole thing along like an engine made from equal parts Entombed and Deicide. There's nothing innovative about this, but the energy level starts high and stays there, with plenty going on to keep your head flailing. This looked like a joke, but it kicks ass. |
