Project Lambda is the debut EP for this new Greek band that plays a technical, progressive stripe of thrash. They mix in clean vocals with harsh and crank up the tempo through much of the four songs. I don’t find anything I outright dislike on Project Lambda and the playing is certainly pro, but the songs don’t stick in my head in any meaningful way and the overall sound is dry and airless. That might be a positive for fans of technical metal, but I prefer a little more warmth to the production, otherwise the complexity can start to grate. Fans of later era Death may find more to enjoy from Venus than I do.
