Skull Fist has been releasing solid, ‘80s-inspired heavy metal music for several years now and Paid in Full is their fourth full-length album. It is a thoroughly enjoyable record with songwriting that is a consistent step up from their last album, 2018’s Way of the Road. They deliver mid-paced cuts like "Paid in Full" and "Crush, Kill, Destroy" that are total foot-tappers, but as is always the case for me, it’s when a band puts the pedal to the metal that gets my heart pumping. When Skull Fist open the taps on "Warrior of the North" and "For the Last Time," it makes me want to get in the car and drive fast while yelling the choruses at the top of my lungs. Regardless of your preference, there are no weak tracks on Paid in Full which is a riff fest from start to finish. Sometimes you just need an album with a ton of crunchy guitars and vocal hooks, a la Dio, U.D.O., etc., and Skull Fist have dialed that in on Paid in Full.
