This is the fourth album from this underground band from Portland, and it rocks. Definitely of that school of classic Heavy Metal bands with a spike of hard rock in their DNA like Widow or Skull Fist, this album presents a band completely on their game, with solid, hook-laden riffs and the powerful, Leather Leone-style vocals of frontwoman Lisa Mann. The songwriting ranges from good to great, with highlights like "Morning Star Rising" and "Let it Rain," but there are no dead spots or skip tracks on this. Splintered Throne have just cranked out a gem of an album and you should not miss it. |
