Starchaser is a recently formed band (2021) that delivers almost an hour of nearly flawless melodic metal on their self-titled debut. Mainly mid-paced with the focus on the riff and chorus, there isn’t a dud on the album, though, if I’m honest, it is a by-the-numbers affair, sure to sound familiar to fans of Burning Point, Silent Force, Masterplan, etc. That doesn’t make it bad, and the songwriting is consistently good, so this is one of those cases where if you like crunchy riffs, gritty vocals belting out catchy choruses, and loads of melody, Starchaser rises above the similarities it has with other albums in the genre. If you are a fan of the previously mentioned bands or melodic metal in general, you should easily find things to like from Starchaser. |
