This is another band walking in the footsteps of the mighty Summoning, treading a path worn for them by similar bands like Eldamar or Dwarrowdelf. Compositionally this is a bit stiff, as the rhythms and riffs don’t often seem to gel into a single sound, but rather remain parts layered on top of each other. The keyboard melodies are pretty much ripped from old Summoning albums, and the vocals are a mix of a deep-voiced bellow and a papery rasp. I prefer the bellow, but neither of the sounds is really more than adequate. If you are into this kind of stuff, then Line of Durin is probably worth checking out, as they definitely have potential, but it’s not going to blow you away. |
