Vicious Knights is a Greek band mining a sound that originated in the ‘80s, when Slayer and Possessed were taking thrash into more extreme realms and presaging death metal, on their full-length debut Alteration Through Possession. They have a thin guitar sound, not the flesh-ripping tone this style really needs, but the riffs are still sharp. The vocals are howl that neither hinders the music nor elevates it and the songwriting is generic with no track standing tall with a face-melting hook or riff. Alteration Through Possession does the trick while it is on, but I remember little after the last notes fade.
