Now this made my day. Jävelin are a Finnish Speed Metal act that clearly loves the dirty, punky ends of the genre like Motörhead and Venom, and with band member names like Jizzy Starlust (vocals/guitars), S.B. Thunderfucker (vocals/bass), and Sonic Seducer (drums), I wouldn’t have expected anything less. Released strictly on cassette as Lucifer intended, their debut EP, Black Magic Nightmare, is every bit as stripped down, straightforward, and harsh-sounding as you would expect, even going as far as to remind me of old Punk bands like The Exploited, particularly on "Spear of Satan." There’s still plenty of Metal to be found, though, like with the mosh pit inducing "Room" and the early Ranger-esque "Killer," and it’s all bound to make you force your head through the nearest wall as you rock the fuck out. There’s not much more to say about this, but then there never is for music that’s all about getting shitfaced with friends and abusing your instruments to make something that almost resembles music, and anyone who can appreciate that will want to keep an eye on these lads in the future. |
