Some raw and dirty death metal out of Norway here, Abhorration’s debut EP doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, following into the footsteps of such USDM bands as Morbid Angel, to name only one, and doing it well. The guitar sound just pierces through the eardrums, and I found that sound tends to stick around once the EP is long over. Lots of mid-paced stuff to be found here and a there’s a mix of old-school and newer death metal that I like. There’s kind of a creepy atmosphere going on as well, which I certainly prefer over a barrage of speed. It’ll be interesting to see what these guys come up with next. |
