Gravity is the debut album from Second Reign, a Swiss band formed in 2017. They play melodic/power metal that sometimes strays into hard rock but, if I had to sum up the album in one word, it would be "catchy." Everything on Gravity is designed to stick to your eardrums like glue, whether it is singalong rockers like "Another Day" or "Uncover" or ballads like "Borderline," a song that Bon Jovi or Slaughter would have ridden to the top of the music charts in 1987. Gravity is clearly on the lighter end of the spectrum with a sound somewhere between mid-period Burning Point and Fifth Angel, so don't pick it up looking for something to rattle the windows or frighten the neighbors with. However, if you like a bit smooth accessibility once in a while, it certainly fits that bill. |
