This is the debut album from one-man band Dungeon Serpent, and while the project is inexplicably labeled as "Melodic Death Metal," it is nothing of the kind whatsoever. This is fast, aggressive Death Metal with a kick of classic Thrash poured into the gas tank to give it a feral, retro kind of vibe. I am reminded a bit of fellow Canadians Ritual in the riff-oriented songwriting and the loose feel of the recording, and also of the low-fi joys of Ontario band Twilight Hammer. This has all the requisite energy, heaviness, and chaos of the fun kind of Death/Thrash, so if you like bullet belts and demons, then don't skip this one.
