Fucking hell! There are plenty of bands that imitate the mighty Cannibal Corpse, but there aren't many that get as close as Kompost have on their debut full-length, Pallor Mortis. As you'd expect from that description, they work in a technical stripe of Death Metal that is capable of containing a fair amount of cool twists and turns in the songwriting without any need to relent on the intensity of brutality. The only real difference between Kompost and a billion other bands is that they actually come pretty close to sounding like Cannibal Corpse themselves and are almost as good, right down to the heavy and clear production courtesy of Owe Inborr at Wolfthrone Studios. At only 30 minutes, this is a solid blast of musical torture that proves that imitation is the highest form of flattery, and it'll leave you wanting more as you hit the Play button once again. Now keep your eyes on the horizon, lest the mad butchers in Kompost catch you unaware. |
