I hadn't heard Stormwitch in a while and Bound to the Witch is not nearly as good as what I remember from some of their previous albums. I guess the shortest description would be "soft power metal." It's not a bad album per se, but it's kind of easy-listening stuff that works well in the background if you want some music that won't grab your attention too much. There are some cool tracks that stick out like the title track and "The Choir of the Dead" (my favourite), but taking the album as a whole, this is very tame, safe, soft power metal that seems to have traded most of the harder, crunchier side of the music for something more commercial sounding. I find it a good album if I want something relaxing and not too distracting, but if you want something that rocks, this is not it. |
