Angel Morgue are a New Hampshire based Death Metal act, and they certainly sound like they're from the northeastern US. In the Morgue of Angels sees the band bow low before the altar of Incantation, which means they work in crunchy, slightly technical Death Metal that works in a slower, doomier groove than average. Admittedly, I've never been the biggest fan of Incantation, so it's not a big surprise that this album doesn't do a whole lot for me. The playing is fine, the production is nice and grimy, and some of the riffs are killer, but the songs themselves are pretty faceless, particularly when they try to speed up. Perfectly decent, but not much else. |
